The aviation fuel lubricity tester is suitable for evaluating the lubricity of aviation fuels (primarily jet fuels) and complies with the test method standards SH/T 0687 and ASTM D5001.
It is a fully automatic ball-on-ring wear test system capable of rapidly and reproducibly evaluating the lubricity of aviation fuels.
The instrument uses a standard steel ball and a standard test ring to create friction, and under controlled test conditions, evaluates the boundary lubricity of aviation fuel based on the size of the wear scar produced on the steel ball.
1. Complies with standards: ASTM D5001-2026 (Normative Appendix A2, Fully Automatic Method) and SH/T 0687 requirements;
2. Sample volume: 50 ml ± 1.0 ml;
3. Test load weight: 1000 g (including 500 g counterweight) ± 1 g, automatically applied;
4. Sample temperature: 25 ± 1°C;
5. Air flow rate: 3.8 ± 0.05 L/min;
6. Air humidity: Relative humidity of 10 ± 0.2% at 25 ± 1°C, automatically controlled;
7. Sample pre-treatment: A stream of air at 0.5 L/min is passed through the sample, while another airflow at 3.3 L/min flows over the sample surface for 15 minutes; air flow rate and humidity are automatically regulated via mass flow controllers;
8. Test conditions: Air flows over the sample surface at 3.8 L/min, with flow rate automatically adjusted by mass flow controller;
9. Test duration: 30 ± 0.1 min;
10. Cylinder rotation speed: 240 ± 1 rpm;
11. Wear scar measurement system: Equipped with a metallurgical microscope providing 100x magnification, X/Y bidirectional reading, accuracy of 1 μm; includes a computer and software to store wear scar images and facilitate editing and printing of test reports;
12. Sliding micrometer: Features X/Y bidirectional digital vernier scale, accuracy of 1 μm;
13. Test ring: Meets the requirements of SH/T 0687 standard, Section 7.1.1;
14. Test ball: Meets the requirements of SH/T 0687 standard, Section 7.1.3;
15. Reference liquids: High reference liquid A and low reference liquid B, conforming to SH/T 0687 standard requirements;
The aviation fuel lubricity tester participated in the proficiency testing for aviation fuel lubricity organized by the Institute for Interlaboratory Studies (IIS).
